Elon Musk Makes Rare Comment About Twins & Reveals Inspo Behind Names

Elon Musk recently offered rare insight into the deeply personal inspiration behind the names of his twins. He shared the story directly with fans on X. In a post published on January 8, 2026, the multi-billionaire entrepreneur explained the meanings behind his son, Strider Sekhar, and daughter, Comet Azure, revealing how literature, science, and pop culture influenced the choices.

Elon Musk touches upon why he named his twins the way he did

In the post, Musk shared a photo of himself with the twins and wrote that Strider Sekhar was named after Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings, whose nickname is “Strider.” Additionally, he is a renowned Indian physicist, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. Musk described Chandrasekhar as a “great Indian physicist,” nodding to his significant contributions to astrophysics, including the Chandrasekhar limit.

Musk also explained that his daughter’s name, Comet Azure, was inspired by the fantasy gaming world. According to the post, “Comet Azure” references one of the most powerful spells in the popular video game Elden Ring. The combination reflects Musk’s long-standing interest in science fiction, gaming, and imaginative world-building – interests he has often cited as personal creative influences.

As reported by People, the comments mark a rare moment of openness from Musk regarding his family life. While the Tesla and SpaceX CEO frequently shares opinions on technology, space exploration, and global issues, he tends to keep details about his children largely private.

The twins, whom Musk shares with Shivon Zilis, were born in 2021. Though Musk has spoken publicly about declining birth rates and the importance of family growth, he seldom elaborates on his own parenting decisions.

By explaining the meaning behind Strider Sekhar and Comet Azure’s names, Musk offered followers a glimpse into his personal passions. These range from classic literature to physics and gaming, and thus helped him shape the identities he chose for his children.
