Britney Spears’ Ex-Husband Joins Iran Protest in LA

Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari was spotted at a Los Angeles demonstration supporting the people of Iran. The Iranian-American model was seen in a video shared to Instagram, waving the country’s flag as part of the “Free Iran” protests in the city.

Residents of Los Angeles, which has one of the largest Iranian-American populations in the country, gathered outside the federal building in Westwood on Sunday. Participants marched in solidarity with the estimated 500 Iranians who were killed during recent anti-government demonstrations in the country. Two protestors of the current Iranian regime were injured when a U-Haul truck drove into the crowd. As of Monday morning, the perpetrator’s identity and motive have not been released yet.

Sam was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1994, to Mike and Fatima Asghari. The Asghari family moved to the United States when Sam was 13 years old, attending high school in California. He attained American citizenship in 2012.

Sam began working professionally as a model at the age of 21, specializing in fitness modeling. He also earned acting credits for appearances in the TV shows NCIS, Hacks, and Dollface. Then, he met Britney Spears after booking a role in her 2016 music video, “Slumber Party”.

Sam and Britney’s relationship oversaw the end of the popstar’s conservatorship in 2021, with the couple getting engaged in September of that year. The pair wed in June the following year, but announced their separation just 14 months later, citing irreconcilable differences.

In September this past year, Britney hit out at her former husband in a now-deleted Instagram post, describing their marriage as “fake distraction”.

“Our marriage was very real to me. It may have been short, but we were together for seven years. I was in love with her, will always have love for her, and wish her the best, always,” Sam responded in a statement to Radar Online.
