How Connor Storrie Fooled a Heated Rivalry Extra

By now you’ve probably watched Heated Rivalry, starring Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams. The hit series, which follows the enemies-to-lovers romance between two hockey captains, is the only thing anyone can talk about lately … including the actors. In fact, in an interview last night, Heated Rivalry’s Connor revealed an interesting fact about the show.

Connor Storrie tricked an actor on Heated Rivalry into believing he was fluent in Russian

Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers on January 12th, Connor – whose character on Heated Rivalry is Russian – revealed his linguistics on set were so good, he fooled one of the extras into thinking he was somewhat native.

Connor recalled that the extra, whom he described as an “older Russian lady,” started speaking to him off-camera in Russian. “Oh, she thought you were an actual Russian?” Seth asked him. “She thought that my parents were Russian, and [that] I speak Russian at home,” the actor replied.

Elsewhere in the interview, Connor – who is from Texas, not Russia – explained how he prepared for the role. “I did like, four-hour sessions of Russian every day for like a month and a half,” he revealed. Connor then gave a shout-out to his Russian teacher and admitted he found learning the language easier than learning to ice skate.

Since the show aired, Connor has recieved a lot of praise for his character’s Russian accent. But, he recently said he thought it was “ridiculous at first.”

“It was about time and consistency,” the actor told Behind the Blinds of the whole process. “The moment I got out of the car on set, I started speaking with the accent to all the PAs, all the ADs, hair, makeup, and wardrobe people. I stayed in it until the last cut of the day.”
