Robert Irwin Panics at Australia Zoo as Hundreds Watch Bird Get Close to Crocodile: Video

It was Robert Irwin to the rescue at Australia Zoo recently, when the conservationist intervened in a near-deadly encounter between a bird and a crocodile during a show. The Dancing With the Stars winner was filmed in the heroic act by a TikTok user who visited the zoo, in a now-viral post on the app.

“Robert Irwin thinking he’s about to traumatize everyone.” @zara_will_travel captioned the video. An Australian white ibis bird can be seen approaching while Robert engages with a crocodile named Murray during a show. The reality TV star quipped, “This is not good!”

Robert Irwin eventually helped separate the animals at Australia Zoo

The crowd nervously laughs as the ibis continues to approach the predator. “I hope we don’t have a Discovery Channel moment on our hands here!” a stressed Robert said. The crowd erupted when another ibis flew towards Murray the crocodile, joining their friend in the face of danger. The 22-year-old repeatedly said “oh mate!” as one bird inched closer to the croc.

The son of the late Steve Irwin, like father, like son, played it as cool as possible when he decided to intervene in the near-deadly encounter. “I think it’s time for you guys to leave,” he said as he gently shooed away the ibis from Murray.

The TV personality has previously stated he feels closest to his dearly missed father when he engages with crocodiles. Steve was well known by the moniker the “Crocodile Hunter”, although his friendly Aussie demeanor and handling of the deadly reptiles won him fans across the globe. That Irwin family wit was evident as Robert expertly saved the show from a grizzly finale.

“Murray’s keen for a little bit extra,” Robert said, referring to the crocodile’s near-snack. “Let’s not let him get an ibis today. That’s not going to look good on TikTok!”
