Nick Reiner’s Former Lawyer Makes Shocking Statement on Innocence

He’s no longer representing him, but Alan Jackson still has big things to say about his former client. The high-profile defence attorney weighed in recently on the Nick Reiner case. The screenwriter is facing two first-degree murder charges in the stabbing deaths of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. Nick reportedly had an intense argument with his father the night before his parents’ death.

Nick hired Alan shortly after his arrest in December. While he won’t be advocating for him in court, he’s still doing so in public.

California law may be paramount in Nick Reiner’s freedom. That’s part of the reason Alan believes his former client is innocent. In an interview on the Hot Mics with Billy Bush podcast, Alan made a bold statement about Nick. “Under the laws of the state of California, he’s not guilty,” said Alan. Life in prison and the death penalty are still possibilities for Nick if found guilty.

After withdrawing from the trial, Nick retained Kimberly Greene. She has 19 years of experience as a public defender. Alan did say that he and his team remain committed to Nick’s best interest even though they no longer represent him.

Some people wonder if retainer fees may be a factor in Alan leaving the case. He said he couldn’t get into any of that. He refused to get into specifics about his withdrawal, only saying it was necessary.

Alan has defended many high-profile clients, including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Karen Read. In Karen’s case, he got her acquitted of murder in the death of her boyfriend.

Nick may enter a not guilty by reason of insanity plea. We won’t know that for certain until his arraignment which takes place on February 23.
