An honor he’s long believed he deserved has been given to Donald Trump by the original recpient. Trump has preached about all the wars he’s supposedly stopped countless times, and apparently, Venezuela’s opposition leader believes him. That’s part of why María Corina Machado’s has gifted Trump her Nobel Peace Prize.
She got the prize in October 2025. At the time, she dedicated the honor to those suffering in Venezuela, along with Donald. Trump’s administration captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro earlier this year. The leader is currently on trial with his wife on alleged drug trafficking charges, among other things.
Donald Trump called María Corina Machado’s move “a very nice gesture”
Trump received the first-ever FIFA Peace prize during the World Cup draw last year, and now he’s got what María believes rightfully belongs to him. Speaking to reporters about the award, Donald called her gift “a very nice gesture.” He added that she’s a very fine woman and that they’ll be talking again.
Earlier this month, María had said she would like to give Donald her award. Evidently, she’s a woman of her word. She is currently in the United States but says she’ll be returning to her home country very soon. With Nicolás on trial, Delcy Rodríguez is currently serving as the interim President of Venezuela.
While María and Donald have no problem with the award being transferred, in Norway it is apparently a different story. The country in which the prize is awarded is, by all accounts, not in agreement with the move made by the Venezuelan opposition leader.
According to the rules, once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. María presented Donald with her prize during a recent White House visit.
