Leonardo DiCaprio addressed his viral meme moment from this year’s Golden Globes. In the clip, which was also shared on the event’s page, he seemed to be pointing across the room, mouthing a few words, and giving an exaggerated expression. Recently, he revealed who he was talking to through signs while referring to a famous dialogue from A Bronx Tale.
What Leonardo DiCaprio said about his viral Golden Globes video
In a recent interview with Deadline, DiCaprio refused to name who he was chatting with across the Golden Globes room when the viral moment was captured. He said, “It was directed to a friend, but at the end of the day, who knows if this other person that I was talking to wants me to even mention their name?” Further referencing a film’s dialogue, he added, “So, as the lead character says in A Bronx Tale, I’m not a rat.”
The ‘Titanic’ star was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy for his performance in One Battle After Another. While he didn’t take home the award, he won everyone’s hearts through his hilarious expressions. The category was won by Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme.
During the Golden Globes, DiCaprio revealed how it was working with Paul Thomas Anderson on One Battle After Another in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. He said, “What’s really incredible about getting to work with Paul Thomas Anderson is he loves controlled chaos. He did a lot of scouting for the film, so we went to these real locations and worked with people from the community. When we’d go to a grocery store, it was a fully running family business.”
Explaining how well the director created a dynamic between everyone involved, he added, “It got us as actors to be leaders and bring them along in the process of the storytelling. It was a lot of fun.”
