Britain’s Prime Minister is voicing his disgust with Donald Trump over recent comments. The President sparked outrage on Thursday when he alleged that NATO troops had stayed a little back from the front lines during the war in Afghanistan.
Those remarks caught the attention of Keir Starmer, who did not appreciate them at all. The UK had joined the United States in 2001 in a military-led campaign in Afghanistan. This came after Washington invoked NATO’s Article 5, which states that if one member of the alliance is attacked, all other members should come to its defence. That act came into play after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Hundreds of British service personnel have died in the decades since then as a result. In the aftermath of Donald’s statement, Keir is demanding an apology from the President.
PM Keir Starmer called Donald Trump’s remarks on soldiers “insulting and frankly appalling”

The President’s words about the Afghan mission did not sit well with the UK’s Prime Minister. On Instagram, Keir denounced Donald’s words. The Prime Minister called his comments “insulting and frankly appalling.” He adds that the President’s words have caused such hurt to the loved ones of those killed or injured.
Keir went on to say that “If I had misspoken in that way – or said those words – I would certainly apologize.” He did add that the UK’s relationship with the US is close and important for their security and defence. Donald has been in the eye of the storm all week at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. Among other things, he’s been slammed for saying sometimes you “need a dictator.” The President has long expressed a desire to take over Greenland, which he says is in everyone’s best interest.
Keir paid tribute to those who took part in the Afghan mission, saying their bravery and sacrifice must not be questioned.
