Elon Musk Asked to ‘Look in the Mirror’ by The View’s Host

Whoopi Goldberg calls out Elon Musk after his post

Whoopi Goldberg criticized Elon Musk on The View over his comments about Lupita Nyong’o’s rumored role in The Odyssey. Musk posted on X, “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity,” in response to speculation that Lupita Nyong’o would portray Helen of Troy, a character described in Homer’s epic as “fair-skinned” and “blonde.” Musk’s post was a reply to user criticism, calling the casting “absolutely disgusting.”

Goldberg responded directly on the show: “I don’t know if you realize this, Lupita is also considered one of the world’s most beautiful women. So, I’m not sure what you’re trying to say.” She added, “You don’t actually have to go to the movie. See, I don’t know why you feel the need to speak on this. I would suggest looking in a mirror if you have any concerns about people’s looks, if this is where we’re going.”

She further commented, “Ooh, you know, because Homer described this fictional character as fair-skinned, blonde, who was so beautiful that men started a war over her.” Goldberg concluded her remarks by preempting any potential backlash from Musk: “And don’t bother to try to clown me, baby, I know what I look like. There are so many things I want to say to you that are rude and awful, but I won’t do it, but know that I’m thinking it.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin supported Goldberg’s stance, saying, “There are sirens and fictional characters… anyone can portray a fictional character and that beauty in and of itself is subjective.” Hostin alleged Musk has “trafficked in white supremacy on the internet.” She described him as “a white supremacist” and “a racist.”

Sara Haines joked, “Maybe no one should tell him that Jesus is Middle Eastern.” She added, “He’s got bigger fish to fry than characters in a movie.”
