Amid the recent controversies involving ex-Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, reports suggest that their daughters may support their mother rather than him. They are “torn” because Andrew has told them that he has done nothing wrong. However, they feel “duped” by the entire scenario.
Supporting Ex-Prince Andrew ‘backfired’ for daughters, says expert
Ex-Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson’s, exit from the Royal Lodge has reportedly caused a lot of emotional turmoil for their daughters. This is especially after the ex-royal couple saw themselves on the receiving end of various controversies. PEOPLE reported that the Princesses may back their mother but not their father.
Robert Jobson, the royal author, said, “They are pretty torn because they believed [their father].” The author continued that Andrew told them that “he had done nothing wrong.” However, as per the author, his daughters feel “duped by the whole thing.”
Jobson, the author of the book Windsor Legacy, continued, “I do think they believed their father, and now it has all backfired.” He added that both Beatrice and Eugenie are devastated by the whole thing. Eugenie is finding it challenging to deal with the situation.
Amid this, Robert Lacey, the royal historian, notes the behavior of the sisters in public. He said, “The discretion with which they have behaved during their parents’ [controversies] also speaks volumes.”
While Andrew has moved to Sandringham Estate after leaving Royal Lodge, the accommodation details of Ferguson remain unclear. Sources allege that she is considering moving to the Windsor area. It’s also been speculated that her daughters have suggested she move abroad, possibly to Eugenie’s villa in Portugal.
Speaking of Beatrice and Eugenie, Jobson said that while they find the entire thing “appalling,” they still care for their mother. He continued, “They have always been very defensive of their mother. There’s a sense that they would put an arm around their mom, but dad will be left to get on with it.”
