On February 7, Olandria Carthen attended the 2026 Fifteen Percent Pledge Fundraising Gala in Los Angeles in an orange gown. Titled ‘The Plait Dress,’ the piece was from the Nigerian fashion brand House of Marvee’s Spring/Summer 2024 Playground collection. Priced at approximately $7,510, it is a made-to-order garment that can take upto 15 weeks to produce.
The orange number featured an even halter-style neckline and elaborate braided beading details that accentuated Carthen’s hips. The layered beaded fringes in the skirt allowed movement while adding a playful touch to the dress. Additionally, the bodice’s interconnected scallops provided sculptural structure to the figure-hugging silhouette. The dress was a reminder of how a fashion choice can highlight cultural significance while embracing modern couture.
Styled by the celebrity styling duo Matthew and Reginald Reisman, Carthen accessorised with statement gold jewellery, including earrings and rings.
