Donald Trump Makes Bizarre Claim About China and Canada’s Ice Hockey

The US President is taking aim at his country’s northern ally online. Donald Trump in throwing Canada under the bus, saying they’d been treating Americans unfairly for decades. Along with that, he’s not happy that Canada’s Prime Minister, Mark Carney, is in negotiations with China.

Donald made a bizarre threat about this, saying that making a deal with China could have dire consequences for Canada’s most popular sport. He also thinks dealing with the Asian superpower could affect the sport that many Canadians watch and play so much. Donald discussed the coveted silver cup in the National Hockey League (NHL) which is considered one of the most sought after among Canadian players.

As we often see when the President goes online, his latest rant was long and covered a variety of different subjects. Canada appeared to be the President’s primary target on Truth Social, with Donald demanding that they give the US more respect. Initially, he discusses a massive bridge between Ontario and Michigan.

He says that Canada owns both the Canadian and American side of that, while alleging it was built with virtually no US content. He blames former President Barack Obama for letting it happen. Donald alleges that Canada is looking to take advantage of the US because of this. He says that he will not allow that. As he often does online, the President then seemingly veered in a completely different direction.

Donald then blasted Mark for negotiating with China. Online, he says the first thing China would do after making a deal with Canada is “terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup.” Donald’s relationship with Mark hasn’t been quite so rosy. The President has recommended that Canada be America’s 51st state, with Mark previously declaring they are not for sale.

The President is no stranger to calling out other nations or politicians on social media. In November, he said a group of Democrats should be arrested and hanged. It came after some Senators and Representatives sent a video to the military. In it they urged them to refuse any orders they deemed illegal.

No Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup since the Montreal Canadiens in 1993.
