Daniel Radcliffe on Harry Potter Co-Star’s On-Set Antics

Daniel Radcliffe joked that fellow Harry Potter actor Michael Gambon “f***ed around” on set. Radcliffe guested on First We Feast’s Hot Ones, where he recounted his Harry Potter experience while relishing spicy wings. Notably, Gambon took over the role of Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore following the death of Richard Harris in 2002.

Daniel Radcliffe reveals Harry Potter co-star who ‘f***ed around all the time’

Daniel Radcliffe recounted that late Harry Potter co-star Michael Gambon “f***ed around” on set. He revealed that Gambon had a great sense of humor and often lightened the mood on set. Radcliffe said, “It’s the people who can do the work without making you constantly aware of how hard they’re working who are always the people that seemed the coolest.”

Radcliffe added, “Michael Gambon, may he rest in peace, an incredible man. He f***ed around all the time. Like he would never stop until action had been taken. Sometimes, he would try and make me laugh.”

The Jungle star confessed that Gambon’s attitude was starkly different from actors who “love to like dress the whole process up in mystique and being an enigma.”

The 36-year-old actor also quipped that his late Dumbledore co-star had a knack for words and the ability to make everyone laugh. Radcliffe shared, “When we were doing the sixth film, me and him were doing the final sequence, and we were in this boat. I can’t remember the details, but we’re in this little boat going over to this island surrounded by bad stuff. And he’d be like, ‘What’s this, TTIAB?’ I was like, what? ‘Two twats in a boat?'”

Radcliffe also addressed the elephant in the room: the new Harry Potter series featuring a brand new cast. He lavished praise on 11-year-old Dominic McLaughlin. Radcliffe said, “I’m sure Dominic is going to be better than me. I learned as I went. I look back on what I did now with a lot more kindness, and I find it less embarrassing now that I’m older. But I was very much learning how to do it for a long time on Potter” (via The Hollywood Reporter).
