Donald Trump Gives Major Update on Iran War Amid High Oil Price

Donald Trump recently commented on the ongoing war involving Iran while discussing the progress of U.S. military operations. The president spoke about the conflict during a press appearance in Florida, where he addressed both the timeline of the war and its broader implications. His remarks focused on how the situation could develop in the near future.

Donald Trump comments on Iran war

President Donald Trump said the war against Iran will end “very soon” and predicted that global oil prices will fall. Speaking at a press conference at Trump National Doral near Miami, Trump said the United States and Israel had made progress in the conflict that began Feb. 28. “We’re achieving major strides toward completing our military objective,” Trump said (via CNBC).

Trump made the comments after oil prices surged above $100 per barrel over the weekend, unsettling global financial markets. At the briefing, he cited U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iranian forces. “We’ve wiped every single force in Iran out, very completely,” Trump said, adding that Iranian naval ships were destroyed and its air force and anti-aircraft defenses were decimated.

Trump also said the Iranian leadership had been eliminated during the strikes. “They have no leadership. It’s all been blown up,” he said. Asked whether the war could end within the week, Trump replied, “No,” before adding, “Very soon.” He said U.S. forces have not yet struck some sensitive Iranian targets, including electricity infrastructure.

Earlier on Monday, an Iranian official warned that oil tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz risked attack. The waterway is a key route for global crude shipments, though only a limited number of commercial vessels were moving through it, according to Matt Smith, an oil analyst at energy consulting firm Kpler. Trump said long-term supplies would become more secure.

Trump said the war would end when Iran no longer had the capacity to use weapons against the United States, Israel, and other allies. He also warned of stronger military action if Iran withholds crude from global markets. He spoke after discussing the situation with Vladimir Putin earlier.
