Sydney Sweeney is opening up about the personal journey that shaped both her confidence and her latest business venture. The actor recently launched her lingerie label, Syrn, and says the inspiration behind it traces back to years of struggling with body image. While Sweeney is now known for her confident on-screen presence, she has revealed that it took time for her to feel comfortable in her own skin. According to the star, a turning point came during her work on HBO’s “Euphoria,” which helped reshape how she viewed her body.
Sydney Sweeney opens up about past body insecurities: ‘I just wanted to hide’
Sydney Sweeney has said that growing up with a fuller chest made her feel self-conscious at a young age. In an interview with Us Weekly, the actor recalled that she was already wearing a 32DD bra size in sixth grade and struggled to feel confident about her body. “I never felt confident,” Sweeney said, explaining that she often couldn’t find clothing or lingerie that made her feel comfortable. “I never had anything I felt good in, and I just wanted to hide.”
According to the actor, things began to shift when she started playing Cassie Howard on HBO’s “Euphoria.” The character’s bold wardrobe choices pushed Sweeney to rethink how she saw herself. She said that portraying Cassie helped her realize that confidence could be powerful and that people should embrace their bodies rather than feel ashamed of them. “I started realizing it’s actually powerful to be confident,” she explained. “Our bodies are incredible. We should embrace [them] and feel really good in our skin.”
That realization eventually helped spark the idea for her lingerie brand, Syrn. Sweeney said she began noticing that many pieces simply didn’t offer the support she needed. She recalled straps digging into her shoulders, fabrics that felt uncomfortable, or designs that didn’t work for fuller busts.
Frustrated, Sweeney began collecting inspiration images on Pinterest and brainstorming what better designs could look like. “I started a whole Pinterest board of thousands of photos,” she said, adding that the idea eventually grew into a full project.
The brand debuted earlier this year with collections including “Seductress” and “Romantic.” According to Sweeney, the goal is to create pieces that let people explore different sides of themselves. “I have so many worlds you can jump into,” she said. “You can mix and match, [and] feel all the different sides.”
