Saturday Night Live referenced Timothée Chalamet during the cold open of its March 14 episode. The sketch began with a family on a road trip reacting to rising gas prices before a version of Donald Trump, played by James Austin Johnson, entered the scene and addressed the audience.

“You might remember me from such campaign promises as ‘lower gas prices’ and ‘no more wars,’” Johnson’s Trump said. “Psych! We’ll love to make promises, because a promise is just a lie that hasn’t happened yet.” Johnson’s Trump continued speaking about fuel costs during the monologue. “But now gas costs like a million billion dollars a gallon.”

The character also referenced the stock market while addressing the crowd in the sketch. “As for the stock market, let me put it in a way that the Harry Styles fans in the crowd tonight will understand. The stock market is going in one direction: Down!”

The cold open included references to international conflict in dialogue about Iran. Johnson’s Trump used a comparison involving performing arts while discussing the topic.

“We will win this war, because Iran is old and nobody likes them,” the character said. “Iran is like ballet and opera, and we are Timmy Chalamet.”

Later in the segment, Colin Jost appeared portraying Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. The character spoke about uncertainty regarding military plans. “I’ll tell you the same thing I say when people ask about our plans for Iran: I don’t know,” Jost said.

The sketch was part of the March 14 broadcast of Saturday Night Live. Harry Styles served as host and musical guest for the episode.
