In a rare bit of good news for daytime television, Tamron Hall’s talk show has been renewed for another season.
The journalist’s talk show debuted in 2019, in first-run syndication on ABC Owned Television Stations across North America. Since its premiere, the Disney-produced show has gone on to win two Emmys, as well as 13 nominations overall. Both the winning Emmy awards were granted to Tamron herself, for Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host.
Tamron Hall Season 8 will be going ahead
Variety exclusively confirmed that the talk show had been renewed for season 8. In a statement from the host herself, Tamron revealed she has a new slogan for her show: “Let’s Keep Talking.”
“That’s our thing. I called our team and I said, ‘Let’s Keep Talking.’ The landscape is always going to change,” Tamron told the outlet. “Some of Conan [O’Brien]’s jokes at the Oscars where he talked about us watching our phones to consume movies and all of these AI jokes, they landed partly because the industry is fearful of these changes.
“I think what we are seeing is a reflection of a larger conversation,” she continued. “So that’s why our theme is ‘Let’s Keep Talking,’ whether it’s on daytime TV, whether it’s in a podcast, whatever version of this. I think that will never go out of style.”
This month, several other daytime talk shows have been cancelled. Although Kelly Clarkson decided to end her series after its current run, The Steve Wilkos Show and Karamo have been pulled off of the airwaves. However, these shows were all part of NBC syndication. Previously, the network announced it would end all first-run syndication shows at the network.
Partly due to the streaming era, daytime shows on syndication don’t pull in viewers like they used to. However, Tamron’s talk show has clearly remained consistent enough with viewers that Disney deem it a worthy investment.
