Nancy Guthrie’s alleged kidnapping has nothing to do with money. That’s the bold claim shared by Harry Trombitas about this case. The former FBI agent believes that at this point, ransom doesn’t seem to be the primary reason behind her reported taking.
That’s the popular theory many people seem to believe, as evidenced by numerous ransom notes sent to news outlets. Nancy has been missing since February 1.
One expert doesn’t think Savannah Guthrie’s mom was taken for cash

A kidnapping done solely for ransom can be disastrous. As such, Harry doubts that is why someone allegedly took Nancy. In an interview with Yahoo News, Harry explained why a financially motivated kidnapping is too dangerous. “There are too many ways people can get caught,” he says. His belief is that the alleged kidnapping may be out of “revenge of some type, anger, or it could be for a third purpose that we’re just not even aware of.”
The FBI has yet to confirm the authenticity of any ransom notes sent. Some experts wonder if those notes were simply hoaxes. Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, previously offered up a $1 million reward for anyone with information on this case. Her mother’s disappearance is now into its seventh week.
Law enforcement officials continue to explore leads in Nancy’s disappearance, with no suspects yet. The FBI put together a suspect description weeks ago after reviewing footage from Nancy’s front porch camera. There is concern about her condition, with the 84-year-old said to be without her heart medication.
Savannah has drawn public criticism for her desire to go back to work amid the ongoing search for her mother. Crime journalist Nancy Grace has been covering that case daily on her show and has come out in defense of Savannah.
