Sarah Ferguson Was Friends With a Convicted Killer — Report

A new TV drama has shed light on Sarah Ferguson’s friendship with Jane Andrews, the former royal dresser later convicted of killing her boyfriend. The series, “The Lady,” has triggered new questions about how close the former Duchess of York and Andrews really were behind palace doors — and what their working relationship looked like before Andrews’ 2001 conviction.

Sarah Ferguson shared ‘personal’ ties with ex-dresser and convicted killer Jane Andrews — report

Page Six has exclusively reported on Sarah Ferguson’s friendship with convicted killer Jane Andrews, which is dramatized in Natalie Dormer’s new series. She worked for Ferguson from 1988 to 1997 and was later convicted of murdering Tom Cressman.

Allan Starkie, who Page Six described as a former friend and confidant of Ferguson, said the connection started as “a boss-servant relationship,” with Andrews coming across as “very meek and deferential” to the former Duchess when he first met her. Starkie claimed, “She really followed protocol” while greeting Ferguson, “and would curtsy whenever she would see her.”

Starkie also claimed that, over time, Andrews worked her way closer into Ferguson’s orbit. He alleged that in 1994 Ferguson “essentially [made Andrews] deputy chief financial officer,” adding that Andrews had “no background in this” — and by that stage, Andrews held influence among staff and had “even almost a personal friendship [with Ferguson].”

Additionally, Starkie described Ferguson as unpredictable in her approach to people around her. Starkie claimed he “used to call her the chameleon, and she liked that,” adding, “[Ferguson] could be very strict [and] reprimand her servants if they didn’t treat her properly. She could also be overly friendly.”

Andrews served her prison sentence from 2001 to 2019, and she reportedly now lives free. Starkie said law enforcement interviewed him during the murder investigation and told him, “You dodged a bullet with that one,” with Starkie claiming, “There was a weird, brooding intensity about her.”

The report highlights a relationship that began as one between an employer and an employee, but then blurred into something far more intimate.
