‘Does Taylor Swift Have Italian Roots?’ Trends for This Reason

Taylor Swift’s Italian roots have recently caught everyone’s attention on social media. An alleged birth certificate of the singer’s great-great-grandfather has seemingly been circulating online. According to the document and local reporting, the Shake It Off” hitmaker appeared to have a distant Italian branch in her family tree. Although she hasn’t addressed it herself, fans have become curious. They have seemingly started a trend asking, “Does Taylor Swift have Italian roots?”

Reports of Taylor Swift’s Italian roots resurface

Speculations around Taylor Swift’s Italian roots have been the topic of discussion for a while now. Recently, it has resurfaced after a Family History Museum (Museo del Cognome) in Padula, Salerno, Italy, posted a birth certificate on their Facebook page. It was 164 year old, which belonged to a man named Carmine Antonio Baldi. Reportedly, he was the pop star’s great great grandfather.

Hence, Swift seemed to have an Italian ancestry on her father’s side through the Baldi family, a Philadelphia Italian-American family with roots in Campania. While local reporting and genealogy sources supported the connection, the full archival chain has not been published in one definitive source.

However, a genealogical site, FindMyPast, mentioned Swift’s alleged family tree. It stated that Baldi’s daughter Louise tied the knot to a man named Charles Gwynn Douglas. Then, their daughter got married to Archie Dean Swift Jr., and they had a son named Scott Kingsley Swift. For those unversed, Scott is the father of the “Life of a Showgirl” hitmaker.

Meanwhile, the global pop sensation is set to walk the aisle soon. She got engaged to NFL star Travis Kelce last year. They have not yet announced their wedding date, but reports suggest that it could happen in 2026.

Moreover, an Instagram page of Growing Up Italian has also shared the birth certificate on its handle. It mentioned that Swift’s ancestor, Baldi, was “born in Castelnuovo Cilento in 1862 before immigrating to America.”
