Twenty years have passed since Lauren Conrad and her enviable headband collection walked off the soundstages of Laguna Beach. This MTV series captivated an entire generation, and LC was one of the main drivers behind its success. But now that the cameras are down, LC has opted for a quieter way of being. As she recently admitted, following her life after reality TV fame, she “really appreciates private moments” these days.
Lauren Conrad speaks of how she used reality TV “as a temporary thing”
After filming, the icon that is Lauren tied the knot, started a family, and launched a lifestyle and fashion empire. Yet, she rarely posts anything online. As she recently admitted to PEOPLE magazine, “That’s a real thing: I’m never in a photo! We just went to Hawaii for a week, and I was laughing because the only family photo we took was in the reflection of the elevator.”
Lauren spent her entire young adulthood in the public eye. This is mostly why she now feels the happiest away from the headlines and bright lights of LA. It is also why she chose to go back, back to her beginnings, to quietly raise her children while focusing on other pursuits.
“I really appreciate private moments,” she admitted. In Laguna, “Nobody cares who I am. It’s such a privilege to be able to live my life for myself after putting many years on camera.” But her efforts did pay off, which she was counting on from the start.
“I always looked at reality TV as a temporary thing to make my connections and then go on to my dream,” Lauren confessed. However, on April 10, Lauren and the cast will return for a one-time showing via the Laguna Beach reunion special. And after, she will likely retreat right back into the shadows, further protecting her peace.
The Reunion: Laguna Beach premieres April 10, 2026, on The Roku Channel. Meanwhile, Laguna Beach is streaming on Paramount+.
