Donald Trump’s New Poll Shows Some Americans Regret Voting For Him

A new poll on Donald Trump suggests that many American voters are regretting their votes for him. The numbers come amid the ongoing war between Iran and the United States. Based on the results, the war is also a major reason for the decline in Trump’s ratings among Americans.

Donald Trump’s new poll on American voters explained

The results of a new poll suggest that many American voters regret voting for Donald Trump as the US President.

UMass recently conducted a YouGov poll, in which many respondents reported feeling unhappy after voting for Trump. According to the survey, only 62 percent of American voters are satisfied with their decision to vote for Trump. On the other hand, this number was 74 percent in April 2025.

Political Science professor at UMass Amherst, Tatishe Nteta, stated, “With much attention being paid to ‘regretful’ Trump voters in the media reports, since April 2025, we have asked Americans to revisit their choice for president in 2024. While we find only a small number (5%) of one-time Trump voters indicating that they regret their vote and would have voted differently, this is up from only 1% of voters in July 2025 and 2% in April 2025 who expressed a similar level of regret.”

The changes in Trump’s job approval ratings are happening as the war between Iran and the United States goes on. The war has led to a rise in oil prices, affecting citizens. Moreover, previous polls indicated that a partial government shutdown has also resulted in disapproval among respondents.

A recent poll by the New York Times also found that only 39 percent of respondents were happy with the way Trump is doing his job and handling the war. However, 57 percent of poll respondents have complaints about the President’s work.
