Jake Paul blames Dana White for the current state of UFC and claims he is the reason UFC is “dying.” For those unversed, UFC, short for Ultimate Fighting Championship, is the largest and most prominent MMA organization. While it once generated remarkable hype, ardent fans have noticed a sharp decline in interest in major events. According to Paul, White is not doing enough to keep fans interested in UFC.
Jake Paul calls out UFC boss Dana White
Jake Paul believes UFC boss Dana White is not doing enough to keep fans engaged in UFC fights. For those unversed, fans are eagerly waiting for the UFC White House event set to take place in June. UFC Freedom 250 will be headlined by Ilia Topuria, who will go against Justin Gaethje in a lightweight title match (via Sportskeeda).
Not only that, but Alex Pereira versus Ciryl Gane is an interim heavyweight title fight. Several UFC legends, including Francis Ngannou and Ronda Rousey, have called out the upcoming event. Now, in a fresh bout, Paul has re-ignited his past feud with White. The 29-year-old boxer guested on Theo Von’s podcast, where he addressed the matter.
Von called White a “very smart guy.” However, Paul remarked, “Not smart enough… Just look at what he’s doing. You don’t not pay your fighters. You don’t get Jon Jones on the White House card? First of all, Justin Gaethje is going to lose to Ilia [Topuria] on the White House card. So you have a Spaniard beating a white American on the patriotic White House card? Big mistake. Why are you not going to pay Jon Jones? They’ve gotten greedy, and they’ve forgotten their heart as a company.”
He continued, “It’s dying, because the best people in the sport become wrestlers and they just hold on. Look at Khabib, Khamzat. Boring! No one wants to watch that.”
However, fans seemed to take a different view of Paul’s comments online. One fan commented, “jake paul is a youtuber who fights retired nba players and calls himself a boxer. his opinion on mma is worth less than the fake hype he generates for his own freakshow fights. dana white has his problems, but at least he built an actual sport. jake paul built a circus.”
A second fan wrote, “Dana knows the UFC isn’t about him. That’s why Jake will fail; he’s just another promoter who thinks it’s about himself and not the company first. That’s one thing Dana does very well: it’s company first and foremost, always.”
