Donald Trump has flaunted his latest addition to the White House decor. The president unveiled the gilded signage of The West Wing in a recent social media post. The photo also showed the revamped walkway to the building.

Donald Trump’s new West Wing sign extends his gold-heavy White House makeover

In a Truth Social post on Wednesday, Donald Trump shared a photo of the renovated walkway to the White House’s West Wing. The building now features a gold-plated lettering of its name as well as other decor changes.

“The newly revamped West Wing of the White House, including signage and renovated walls, maple trees, and plantings!” Trump penned in the caption. Trump’s fascination with gold has long made the news. Most recently, the president admired the golden opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. He rang the bell on Monday to open the stock exchange and mark the launch of his Trump Accounts.

“There’s the bell right there. It’s so beautiful, I’m not giving it back,” Trump said at the ceremony. “I don’t know if it’s supposed to go back, but they’re gonna have to fight like hell to get it back. We’re not giving it back,” he said. Addressing Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the president added, “You understand that, Scott? Don’t let it leave, it’s so beautiful.”

Trump’s admiration for gold was also detailed in The New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan’s book, Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump. The correspondents noted that this extravagant taste dates back to Trump’s first marriage to Ivana Trump.

“Trump’s first wife, Ivana, the vice president of interior design at his company, had had a penchant for gilding everything,” the authors shared. “It was Ivana who was said to have first encouraged the gold obsession that soon became a hallmark of her husband’s properties.”
