Gavin Newsom’s wife Jennifer comments on Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem firing
Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, made an Instagram video on Saturday, sharing her stance on Donald Trump’s recent firing of Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi. In the clip, captioned “Just some thoughts on patriarchy,” she called out the president for what she described as his “war on all women.”
Newsom began the statement by saying that although she is “not a fan” of Bondi or Noem, it was “no surprise” to her that “the first two prominent people pushed out of this administration were women.”
She further explained, “The conservative women that Trump handpicks who align themselves with an agenda that controls women, restricting our rights, limiting our autonomy… is only in service of men.”
Newsom continued, “There’s a familiar pattern here. Women are brought in, packaged Mar-a-Lago style, and lifted up as long as they commit to wholeheartedly serve the interests of the patriarch at the top.” She went on to claim that these women never enjoy “job security and protection.”
The filmmaker and actress said, “When you align yourself with that value system, with a leader who has publicly devalued women, degraded them, and been found liable of abusing women. Well, guess what? You’re going to be the first to go.”
She added, “Your power is only temporary, and ultimately they will come for you. That’s the unfortunate truth for all women. No woman is safe in Trump’s Republican Party unless she has enough wealth or the ability to buy her own job security and safety.”
Newsom concluded by urging her viewers to recognize the ongoing “war on women,” regardless of their political affiliation.
Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi on April 2, just weeks after he removed Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security.
