Antony Starr Backs The Boys Co-Star Jensen Ackles for DCU’s Batman

The Boys mainstay Antony Starr has shown his support for co-star Jensen Ackles being a fan-favorite choice for DCU’s Batman. DC is building a new movie universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, and Batman’s casting is the most anticipated. In the main DC Universe, a new Batman will appear in a film reportedly titled The Brave and the Bold. This 13th live-action iteration will feature the Caped Crusader alongside his son Damian. The makers are also looking to include the new Batman in Justice League.

The Boys’ Antony Starr roots for co-star Jensen Ackles to become Batman

The New Zealand actor has backed the Supernatural star to become DCU’s new Batman. Fans have pitched some of the most notable Hollywood actors, including Jonathan Bailey, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Alan Ritchson.

However, reportedly, Jensen Ackles is the most preferred fan casting so far, and now, Antony Starr has joined in and is rooting for him to be cast as DCU’s Batman. During a chat with MovieWeb, the interviewer discussed DCU’s potential new casting for Batman and noted how Ackles would make for a great caped superhero. Starr nodded and replied, “100%.”

Interestingly, Ackles has voiced Batman in multiple animated projects, including the two-part Batman: The Long Halloween (2021) and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths (2024). In fact, during a past interview with Collider, he himself expressed a keen interest in playing the iconic superhero in a live-action iteration.

The 48-year-old actor said, “Oh, man. I don’t know. It would be hard to carve out something truly unique amongst all of the performances as Batman. I would probably have to lean heavily on Gunn and whoever’s directing and whoever’s writing it, and get inspiration from the text. But look, you talk about not wanting to fumble the football, that’s one that I would be nervous as hell to carry, but also proud, and a certain feather in the cap. Anybody who gets to wear the cowl, they got something.”

Meanwhile, DC co-CEO James Gunn revealed his vision for the Dark Knight in an interview with Rolling Stone. He shared, “I’m not interested in a funny, campy Batman. Really.” However, DC has yet to confirm who will be taking over Batman’s mantle next.
