Justin Trudeau’s Son Has Some Thoughts on Katy Perry

Justin Trudeau’s son Xavier shared his take on his father’s new girlfriend, Katy Perry. Trudeau and Perry sparked dating rumors in July 2025 and have reportedly been going strong since. Notably, Xavier is Trudeau’s oldest child, born to him and his ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.

Justin Trudeau’s son talks about Katy Perry

Justin Trudeau‘s son talks about Katy Perry on an April 8 episode of the Can’t Be Censored podcast. Xavier, who goes by the stage name Xav, spoke about Perry’s involvement in his music career. The hosts asked, “Katy Perry, of course, has been in the news lately. Have you talked to her about the music?”

Xav replied, “Yeah, I have. When I’m really happy with a song, (I) send it (to her). She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change. She’s super nice, like she’s super down to earth. She’s great, and I think my dad’s happy, so that’s important.”

The host referenced their past interaction with his mother, Grégoire, who termed the whole media circus as “noise.” The hosts asked the 18-year-old if he echoed the same sentiments. To which Xav replied, “My life is so crazy sometimes. I’m like, ‘What is my life? What the hell?’ I just laugh. The reality of it is, it’s my life. What can I do? What can I change?”

For those unversed, Trudeau and Grégoire enrolled Xav in music classes after he showed interest in making a career in music. The 18-year-old has been experimenting with R&B music and taking big leaps in his solo career. Xav released his debut single, “Til The Night’s Done,” in February 2025. His sister, Ella-Grace, provided the backing vocals on the track (via E Online and Complex).

Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time Xav spoke about his equation with Perry. In an Instagram interaction on February 21, G Hobs asked Xav, “Have you met Katy Perry?” The teen replied, “Yes, I have met her. She’s cool, she’s nice. We talked for hours, talking about my music. She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff.”
