Ivanka Trump gets emotional while talking about Ivana’s death
During a recent appearance on Steven Bartlett’s The Diary of a CEO podcast, Ivanka Trump got candid about losing her mother, Ivana. She opened up about navigating the grief and recounted what her mother was like beyond the limelight.
“She was extraordinary,” Ivanka shared. “She lived a good life, though, you know. I tell myself with my mom, she really lived. She had fun. So she taught me a lot about just like, you know, the presence I talk about, about just like bringing intention to what you do.”
Fighting back tears, Ivanka continued, “She was very herself and she was very joyful, and she loved to dance, and she loved to play. And so she lived, she lived a good life.”
Donald Trump’s former wife and Ivanka’s mother, Ivana Trump, passed away on July 14, 2022, at the age of 73 after falling down a flight of stairs at her Manhattan residence.
Reflecting on her sudden death, Ivanka said, “Losing a parent, it hits different, especially unexpectedly. Especially sort of post-COVID, which kind of robbed so many of us of so many years.”
She went on to add, “We really keep her memory alive. I really took the time to think about her not through the eyes of the child who idolized her fully, but through the eyes of an adult who saw her clearly— her strengths, her challenges.”
Ivanka Trump, who herself is a mother to three children with husband Jared Kushner, continued, “I think about my role as a parent to my own children is to sort of stand guard against, to make sure they’re exposed to all the elements of her that were amazing and share the stories and remind them.”
