Donald Trump Faces Big Loss as Lawsuit Against Wall Street Journal Is Dismissed

Bad news for Donald Trump. The president, who some may refer to as “sue-happy,” has just had one of his lawsuits thrown out by a federal judge. He had launched a defamation case against The Wall Street Journal for publishing a birthday card allegedly sent by him to Jeffrey Epstein.

Rupert Murdoch was also the target of the lawsuit

Trump was suing The Wall Street Journal, Rupert Murdoch and the journalists behind the article that featured the birthday greeting. The card was sent to Epstein for his 50th birthday in 2003. It read: “We have certain things in common, Jeffrey. A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.” The handwritten text was written in the outline of a woman’s body.

The newspaper published the card last year after being shared by the Epstein estate. Trump denied having anything to do with the very friendly note. He filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit, claiming “no authentic letter or drawing exists.”

However, Florida District Judge Darrin P. Gayles dismissed the lawsuit, adding that there was no proof that the article was published with “actual malice.” In fact, Trump came “nowhere close to this standard. “Quite the opposite,” the judge said.

A spokesperson for Trump told the Independent: “President Trump will follow Judge Gayles’s ruling and guidance to refile this powerhouse lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and all of the other Defendants. The president will continue to hold accountable those who traffic in Fake News to mislead the American People.”

Trump had previously expressed his excitement over the proposed trial, writing on Truth Social: “I look forward to getting Rupert Murdoch to testify in my lawsuit against him and his ‘pile of garbage’ newspaper, the WSJ. That will be an interesting experience!!!”

POTUS certainly has no qualms about suing the media. He’s also filed lawsuits against the BBC and the New York Times over the past year.
