Below Deck Down Under Star Adds Dish Soap to Guest’s Eggs

Adding a chef’s assistant to the galley on Below Deck Down Under hasn’t been quite as helpful as it was meant to be. Chef Ben Robinson’s first helper, Alesia Harris, decided she couldn’t work with him.

Next, Alesia’s replacement, Elena “Ellie” Dubaich, also had trouble getting along with Ben. Fortunately, they worked it out and were determined to work together for the rest of the season.

Things went left as Ben was preparing breakfast for the guests. He asked Ellie to throw “a little olive oil” onto the scrambled eggs before serving them to the guests. Unfortunately, rather than grabbing the olive oil, Ellie used a bottle of dish soap.

When the eggs were served, one of the guests asked, “Do your eggs taste weird? My eggs taste like [Dawn].”

When Ben tasted the eggs himself and realized what happened, he quickly apologized and promised to “fix all this.”

In a confessional, Captain Jason Chambers told producers, “Soap in the eggs? I’m actually quite embarrassed. We really have to make it up to them.”

“In all my years of being a chef,” Ben also told producers, “no one has even found a hair in their food.”

Naturally, Ellie was worried about her job. “Everything is kind of in slow motion right now,” she told producers. “I’m kinda thinking I’m getting fired.”

Fortunately for Ellie, Ben took full responsibility for the mistake, assuring Ellie that they were a team. “I have to kind of own it … because it’s my department,” he said during the Below Deck Down Under After Show. As for the bottles, he added, “I should have been a little more hardcore with like, ‘Hey, label that now.’”

Meanwhile, Ellie appreciated the way Ben handled the awkward situation. “I think it was really big of him to … take ownership, because it was both of our faults,” she said on the After Show. “It’s mortifying. Like, how else could you feel?”

Below Deck Down Under airs Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock the following day.
