Jamie Dornan Backed by Fans as Aragorn in New Lord of the Rings Film

Since the releases of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise and “A Haunting in Venice,” Jamie Dornan is quickly becoming a fan-favorite pick for major fictional roles. In fact, now, it seems like the actor is all set to step into one of fantasy’s most iconic roles.

Following reports around the upcoming “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum,” fans have taken to social media to rally behind the actor as the potential new Aragorn. And to be honest, the internet seems to be surprisingly on board with this one.

Fans react to Jamie Dornan getting cast as Aragorn in new Lord of the Rings film

Best known for his visibly brooding screen presence and intensity, Jamie Dornan has the kind of quiet gravitas that many believe could translate well to the role of Aragorn. The character was immortalized by Viggo Mortensen in the original trilogy. Although no official casting confirmation has been made yet, online buzz suggests the audience is more than ready to see a fresh take on the beloved ranger from Dornan.

The upcoming film, which is backed by Warner Bros., will expand the Middle-Earth universe once again. It is expected to explore events surrounding Gollum’s story, adding new layers to J.R.R. Tolkien’s rich mythology. With nostalgia running high and expectations even higher, the casting choices will inevitably face intense scrutiny. But it’s quite clear that Dornan’s name in the mix has sparked more excitement than hesitation. Some of them are even celebrating with fun GIFS.

In fact, one of them commented, “From the Fall to the Falls of Rauros… Jamie Dornan has the range and the smolder to pull off a younger Strider. It’s impossible to replace Viggo, but this is a massive win for the film.” Meanwhile, another fan exclaimed, “It’s always hard replacing someone loved in a film, but give Jamie a chance. He fits the part. Look at The Fall, The Tourist,  Belfast. All great series and films for Jamie.”
