Amid the ongoing feud with Donald Trump, one of Pope Leo’s older brothers was the target of a bomb threat on Wednesday, April 15. John Prevost, lives in New Lenox, Illinois, about 40 miles southwest of Chicago.
After the report came in around 6:30 pm Wednesday, New Lenox police responded to John’s home. Fortunately, the threat was unsubstantiated, and officers found no evidence of an explosive device.
No one was injured and evacuated residents were eventually allowed to return safely to their homes.
The threat was found to be unsubstantiated

After first evacuating the area, New Lenox police conducted “a thorough search of the residence and surrounding property.” After the search by a specialized team using explosive-detecting canines, officers determined it was a false alarm.
Following the false report, Police Chief Micah D. Nuesse told NBC News that an investigation to determine the origin of the false report is “active and ongoing.”
Additionally, the New Lenox PD warned, “Making false reports of this nature is a serious offense … [Doing so] may result in criminal charges.” They encouraged anyone with information about the threat to contact them.
The incident took place amid the hostility between Pope Leo and Trump. After Pope Leo criticized his attack on Iran as being “truly unacceptable,” Trump launched a feud on the first American Pope.
After Trump called him “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy,” Pope Leo responded with appeals for peace. Furthermore, according to a Vatican insider, the first American Pope vowed to steer clear of his home country as long as Trump is in power.
Although NBC News reached out to John earlier today, he hasn’t yet responded. There is no evidence that the bomb threat had anything to do with the reported feud.
