There could be some unwanted guests at the upcoming Met Gala. This year’s event will feature Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sánchez. The couple will be serving as honorary chairs and lead sponsors.
With the Gala set to open in a matter of weeks, a shocking plot for the event is emerging. Evidently, some are not fond of the incredibly wealthy couple. They are hoping to show the pair exactly how they feel next month.
Anti-capitalists are reportedly hoping to “humiliate” the couple
The cat is out of the bag regarding an upcoming protest. Posters have started popping up around New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The signs are to boycott the event with some protest signs reading The Bezos Met Gala … brought to you by worker exploitation, referring to the billionaire Amazon founder. Some of those planning the protest told the Daily Mail that their aim is to “humiliate and “ridicule” the power couple.
The group opposing the event is composed of leftover members of another anti-capitalist group called Everyone Hates Elon, as in billionaire Elon Musk. That group was founded in 2025. The original movement began because, according to them, people are angry. They believe billionaires like Elon and Jeff are trying to keep Donald Trump’s evil empire in power.
Back in November, it was reported that Jeff and Lauren had taken control of the Met Gala. The two may have to face plenty of angry faces when the festivities get underway. One woman with the group says that they have volunteers on board. In addition, she says they are ordering stickers to boycott the event and hacking New York City subway ads.
Longtime Met Gala chairperson Anna Wintour has expressed excitement about Jeff and Lauren’s involvement. There’s been widespread speculation that they bought their way into the event. The gala takes place on May 4.
