Traveling overseas is not as simple for even famous figures like Caitlyn Jenner. Arguably the most well-known transgender person, she has had issues because of that, especially when it comes to travelling. The Olympic gold medallist, who previously went by Bruce as a man, recently discussed the impact of a trans passport policy imposed by Donald Trump’s administration.
Last November, the Supreme Court issued an emergency ruling allowing the President’s administration to restrict passport sex markers to male or female. These would correspond to one’s sex at birth. That’s made visiting other countries extremely complicated for trans men and women such as Caitlyn.

For over a decade, Caitlyn has publicly identified as a woman. The President’s new policy, imposed last year, hasn’t benefited her when it comes to travel. “I can’t travel internationally anymore. I can’t use my passport,” Caitlyn said on an episode of Tomi Lahren is Fearless. Because she was originally a man, her passport marker is M.
She says that she wrote a letter to President Trump “explaining all of this to him, how it’s affecting me and a lot of other people.” He has yet to respond to her, with the former athlete believing it’s not as high on the President’s priority list right now. Caitlyn says she doesn’t blame the President for not getting back to her thus far.
Recently, the POTUS discussed the midterm elections in the US, touching on numerous topics, including transgender issues. He warned that a Democratic victory would be catastrophic for the country. He said, “They’ll open up the borders again, they’ll have transgender for everybody.”
Traveling isn’t the only thing that could impact Caitlyn and other transgender individuals with the President’s policy. She says it could impact her ability to vote. Caitlyn doesn’t believe the policy was well thought out. Legal challenges to the passport policy are ongoing.
