Gavin Newsom & Others Roast Pete Hegseth Over Pulp Fiction Bible Quote

Donald Trump’s Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, has drawn heavy criticism online after he bizarrely mistook a quote from the Quentin Tarantino-helmed Pulp Fiction for an actual Biblical verse. His failure to distinguish fact from fiction has prompted a host of high-profile individuals to slam the government official, with the likes of Gavin Newsom and Dan Winslow mocking him on social media.

Pete Hegseth trolled for saying fake Bible quote

During his Wednesday appearance at a Pentagon ceremony, the former Fox host chronicled a Pulp Fiction quote, originally performed by Samuel L. Jackson in the film, believing that it was an actual verse in the Bible.

Pet Hegseth claimed that it was recited by Sandy-1 during a real-time Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mission. “They call it CSAR 25:17, which I think is meant to reflect Ezekiel 25:17,” he ignorantly remarked before he narrated the entire Pulp Fiction quote (via FactPost).

“The path of the downed aviator is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of camaraderie and duty, shepherds the lost through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to capture and destroy my brother. And you will know my call sign is Sandy-1 when I lay my vengeance upon you. Amen,” Hegseth conveyed.

Since then, several personalities have taken to social media to troll the federal official for his blunder. California Governor Gavin Newsom shared a morphed Pulp Fiction poster on his X (formerly Twitter) profile, with Pete Hegseth’s face replacing Uma Thurman in the one-sheet.

Furthermore, author Don Winslow blasted Hegseth by writing, “Dear @SecWar Pete Hegseth, YOU ARE A CLOWN. YOU ARE THE WORST SECRETARY OF DEFENSE IN THE HISTORY OF THIS NATION. A CHILD. A CLOWN. A GOOF.”

Tennis icon Martina Navratilova also reposted a Pulp Fiction scene featuring Thurman and John Travolta. The caption stated, “This is my favorite scene from the Bible.”

Additionally, Donald Trump’s niece, Mary L. Trump, also took a jab at Pete Hegseth’s recent slip-up. She wrote, “Who among us has not mistaken the holy words of Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction for biblical scripture?”

Meanwhile, Hegseth has yet to address the backlash directed at him for this incident.
