Police in Los Angeles had their hands full dealing with a situation at a singer’s home. D4vd, or David Anthony Burke, got a visit from several officers on Thursday night at his rental home. The rapper was detained, and his place was searched for about an hour.
D4vd has been lying low following his links to the death of Celeste Rivas. Her decomposing body had been found in a Tesla, which reportedly belonged to the Romantic Homicide singer. His arrest this week comes seven months after police found the 14-year-old girl’s remains.
The LAPD arrested the singer on suspicion of murder
You can run, but you can’t hide, at least not forever. D4vd is discovering that this week, following his arrest on suspicion of murder in Celeste’s death. Video from TMZ shows him in handcuffs on Thursday. Their sources say that robbery-homicide, along with gangs and narcotics divisions of the LAPD, were present at the time, with the K9 unit on hand as well.
The rapper’s rental place was near the iconic Chateau Marmont, boasting four bedrooms and three baths across 3,000 square feet, with a pool, hot tub and stone patio. There was a For Lease sign at the front of the home.
Many believe that Celeste and D4vd had a long-term relationship. The girl’s mother says that she knew Celeste had a boyfriend named David. D4vd’s birth name is David Anthony Burke. While there appears to be incriminating evidence against the rapper, that may not have been the case months ago. In October, a defense attorney believed there wasn’t enough evidence to suggest D4vd had done anything wrong. Clearly, that is no longer the case as he was taken into custody at the LAPD’s 77th Street Station jail yesterday.
Thursday was the first time we’d seen or heard from D4vd in several months. No word on a trial date for him in this matter.
