Ryan Reynolds Lauds Wrexham AFC as One of His Life’s ‘Great Loves’

From Hollywood success to unexpected ventures off-screen, Ryan Reynolds has been wearing more hats than ever lately. In fact, Reynolds recently recorded the Sunday Sitdown Live with Willie Geist for Sunday Today in front of a live studio audience. During this interview, he actually opened up quite a lot. He talked about his impressive list of projects, which included co-owning a sports team, his stakes in Aviation Gin, and even Mint Mobile.

But that’s not all, during the interview with Willie Geist, Ryan Reynolds also opened up about the possibility of another “Deadpool” instalment. Plus, his tryst with parenthood, and losing his dad to Parkinson’s. However, the most unexpected part had to be his deep feelings for the Wrexham Association Football Club. Yes, this is the soccer team that he purchased with his close friend and fellow actor, Rob McElhenney. It was back in 2021.

Furthermore, Reynolds described this as an endeavour that he claims has been “one of the great loves” of his life. He further added, “In every country in the world, there’s Wrexham, you know? And these are just towns that feel like they’ve been forgotten or lost, and industry left them, and, you know, they sort of lost that sort of mutual feeling of belonging to something. I’m just so blown away by it all!” Talking about his journey with The Wrexham Association Football Club, Reynolds exclaimed, “We were as low as you get. We were close to a beer league when we started.”

Meanwhile, he also added, “You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who would say the name, ‘Wrexham.’ And now, they can’t say it without an eating grin on their face.” At the end of the day, Ryan Reynolds’ bond with Wrexham AFC goes far beyond ownership. It’s personal, wholesome, rooted in community, and driven by a genuine sense of pride. In a life full of big wins, this might just be the one that means the most.
