Daredevil star Charlie Cox took a moment to play a friendly game of Connect 4 before the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards. Since the video went viral, the internet did its job, responding with a wide range of comments.
Daredevil star Charlie Cox plays an intense game of Connect 4 at BAFTA Games
On April 17, the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards took place in London. Actor Charlie Cox also attended the event, having voiced Gustave in Sandfall Interactive’s video game, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Before the event began, an attendee approached the actor and challenged him to a game of Connect 4.
“Hello. Are you challenging me to a game?” the Merv actor asked. Without wasting any time, the two began playing the game. As Cox began inserting his tokens, he noted, “If someone carries around one of these, they’re obviously very good.”
When the actor failed to insert his token as it fell over, he said to himself, “Dummy.” As he stood there, thinking for a moment about where to place his next token, his wife, Samantha Thomas, tried to help him. The Defenders actor told her, “Don’t. I know what I’m doing.”
At one point, Thomas pointed out the obvious move, which Cox had missed. After noticing it, he said, “Oh, there. That’s really embarrassing,” and laughed. He later tried to sneak in two pieces at once, but failed, and said, “I missed.”
As the game neared its end, the MCU star said, “I think it’s over. I think it’s a draw, even though you gave it to me.” The game ultimately ended when the attendee pointed out that he had connected four dots, and that Cox had lost the match. The two then shook on it.
Users on X (formerly Twitter) have since reacted to the fun post. One user joked, “Beating a blind man in Connect 4…real mature.” It’s a clear reference to Cox’s iconic Marvel role.
A second user wrote, “Wholesome 🙂 No words needed.”
“Bro is the chillest MF ever,” a third user admired.
“He really saw those red and yellow chips and said, ‘I’m the man without fear,” commented another.
