Met Gala ticket prices slashed amid ‘influencers, not icons’ criticism, per source

The Met Gala has allegedly been facing backlash for becoming “influencers, not icons.” Amid all these criticisms, the annual charity event has reportedly begun to slash its ticket prices and other costs. As reported by Rob Shuter, a source said that “Prices are coming down because they have to.” The person continued, “Designers aren’t buying like they used to.” The source also added, “The demand just isn’t there.”

Per the news outlet, the insider further claimed, “Vogue doesn’t control the conversation anymore.” The person continued, “And if Vogue isn’t essential, neither is the Met Gala.” Meanwhile, the news outlet went on to discuss the significance of Anna Wintour. Another insider expressed, “You paid because Anna mattered.” The person continued, “Her approval could make careers overnight.” The insider also added, “That kind of power? It’s fading fast.”

Meanwhile, a source said to the news outlet, “Designers are nervous.” The person continued, “The event feels politically charged — and no one wants to be on the wrong side of that.” In the meantime, another source told the news outlet, “Why drop $350,000 on a table,” while referring to the Met Gala. The person continued, “When influencers deliver bigger audiences, faster buzz, and measurable results?”

Meanwhile, another insider claimed that “The Bezos–Sánchez moment tipped it.” According to the person, the Met Gala “stopped feeling aspirational and started feeling like a billionaire circus.” The person continued, “It’s influencers, not icons now.” “And that changes everything,” the insider also added.
