When you embark on a weight loss journey like Jelly Roll’s, there are sure to be a few bumps along the way. It appears that’s what the Son of Sinner singer is experiencing at the moment. The singer-songwriter has gone on a massive quest to shed a ton of unwanted pounds.
While much of the journey has been successful, he recently admitted that it has gotten “a little ugly” in recent times. Even so, the Grammy Award winner has some lofty ambitions in the months ahead.
The 41-year-old has already lost a lot of weight
Even those with weight loss goals like indulging occasionally. In his April 17 vlog, Jelly said that he hit a weight-loss objective just before the holiday season last year. While he consumed more than usual during that festive time, he broke his collarbone in December. Because of this, he says that he had to “quit running, quit walking, quit exercising for some extended period of time.”
While lately it’s been tough on him, by all accounts he’s come a long way from where he was a few years ago. In October, it was estimated that he’d shed a shocking 200 pounds. At one point, he reportedly weighed well over 500 pounds. He’s previously said that being obese made him miserable.
Losing weight wasn’t the only goal Jelly has set for himself. He said that he wanted to land on the cover of Men’s Health one day. Unfortunately, he believes he was at least 40 pounds or more off his benchmark to potentially land the gig. His collarbone injury occurred while riding his ATV.
Jelly isn’t letting this weight loss setback discourage him from setting bigger goals this year. His aim is to run in the upcoming New York marathon. After that, he says that he’d like to pose shirtless for a magazine cover. This year’s New York marathon takes place on November 1.
