Jason Kelce opens up about his physical fight with dad, Ed

Jason Kelce spoke about his intense brawl with his dad, Ed Kelce, on the April 22 episode of the New Heights podcast. The Eagles alum recalled, “We were in the house, and I did something where I was mouthing off to him, I’m sure. I don’t know what I said to him to get him so riled up. And he was just like, ‘You think you’re, oh, the big, tough football guy. You think you’re the big guy?'”

The 38-year-old shared that his father then “tried to, like, wrestle me to the ground,” but unfortunately for senior Kelce, the move didn’t work. “He just kinda, like, fell and, like, was ankle biting me, basically. And I just, like, fell down because I was like, ‘Oh my God. I feel so bad for dad,'” Kelce added.

Travis also spoke about the time he got into an intense physical fight with an adult coach while playing hockey. The Chiefs player confessed that their father was angry that he dragged their mother, Donna, into the mess. The tight end recalled, “He’s like, ‘Don’t ever do that when I’m not there. Don’t you ever put your mother in that situation.'”

Previously, the Eagles alum praised his father’s parenting skills. He appeared on The Stream Room Podcast in February and called his dad his “role model growing up.”

Kelce shared, “I thought he was the smartest guy in the world. I thought he was the most impressive human being. Everything he said, I took like it was the God’s truth. He instilled so much of a toughness and a work ethic and a mentality in me and my brother that I’ll always be indebted and grateful to him.”
