After decades of awards, box office hits, and industry respect, George Clooney recently admitted his link to The Devil Wears Prada 2 is what makes him feel he’s truly “made it.”
For those wondering, the ER star isn’t in the cast list. But his enchanting Lake Como retreat makes an appearance in the upcoming sequel. The film’s trailer features Clooney’s Villa Oleandra in full view. It sits behind Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt as they race across Lake Como by speedboat.
However, the news caught the Jay Kelly actor guard on Monday during the 51st annual Chaplin Award Gala at Lincoln Center in New York City. During a red carpet interview with Access Hollywood, he couldn’t help but joke, saying, “Is it really? Oh man, I’ve made it. The house holds a special place in my heart, because I love going there.”
Clooney added that the unplanned cameo is particularly gratifying because of his strong bond with Blunt and the rest of the cast. While the film isn’t out yet, he expects it to be a major success.
Now valued at roughly $100 million, George Clooney bought Villa Oleandra in 2002. The 100,000-sq.-ft. estate sits on the western shore of Lake Como in the small town of Laglio. Dating back to the 18th century, the storied villa features a private pier, swimming pool, tennis court, and additional amenities. It was also on Lake Como’s banks that Clooney first met human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin. The two married in 2014.
