California Governor Gavin Newsom has decided to go after Donald Trump for rolling out specialized US passports with his face plastered on them to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. The former San Francisco mayor took to social media to share a Trump-like post, mimicking his lingo as he ridiculed his limited-edition passports in a fun way.

On April 28, the official social media account of the California Governor’s press office slammed the special US Independence Day passports featuring the POTUS’ face. They shared a parodied version of a California driver’s license with the former’s face on it.
“IN HONOR OF CALIFORNIA’S 175TH ANNIVERSARY, WE WILL BE ROLLING OUT A VERY SPECIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE FOR EVERY CALIFORNIAN THIS SUMMER!” Gavin Newsom’s press office wrote on X (formerly Twitter), while also sharing a picture of the fake license.
“IT WILL FEATURE A HANDSOME, HIGH-QUALITY PHOTO OF ME, GAVIN C. NEWSOM. MANY PEOPLE ARE SAYING IT’S THE BEST LICENSE EVER MADE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD. THIS IS ABOUT CELEBRATING OUR BEAUTIFUL STATE (IT IS NOT ABOUT ME, DESPITE THE VERY HANDSOME PHOTO!). ENJOY! — GOVERNOR GCN,” the caption added.
Meanwhile, in defense of the specialized US passports with Donald Trump’s face, a White House spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the President’s primary focus was “on saving our country—not garnering recognition.” They further noted, “Anyone who finds an issue with President Trump celebrating the greatness of our country during our historic semiquincentennial celebration clearly suffers from a severe and incurable disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Undeterred by the backlash, Gavin Newsom’s office hit back once again, this time by sharing license plates with the Governor’s face.
“I HAVE DIRECTED THE DMV TO CREATE BRAND-NEW LIMITED EDITION LICENSE PLATES. I SPOKE TO THE DIRECTOR PERSONALLY…AND HE SAID: “SIR, THESE ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLATES WE’VE EVER MADE.” THE “PLATES” ARE NOT JUST VERY BEAUTIFUL, THEY ARE CLASSY, JUST LIKE ME, GAVIN C. NEWSOM, GOVERNOR OF THE FREE WORLD,” read the caption.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has yet to respond personally to Gavin Newsom’s jibe at him.
