Lizzo Seemingly Refuses To Settle Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

If Lizzo’s accusers want a quick, tasty settlement, they’re out of luck. The rapper made it very clear in an interview this week that she’s ready to go the distance and fight the allegations against her. Some of the rapper’s former backup dancers allege sexual harassment and a toxic work environment while working for her. That lawsuit was filed in 2023.

Settling the case appears to be the furthest thing from her mind at this stage. For Lizzo, there is something more important at stake: the truth.

Lizzo says she won’t take the “easy” way out

The gloves are off in the legal battle between Lizzo and her former dancers. In an interview with CBS Mornings on Monday, the singer acknowledged that most people in her shoes with the financial resources at her disposal would settle. Doing so for her, though, would be “an easy out,” adding that she is fighting this because “I know that it’s not true.”

It sounds like Lizzo is supremely confident she will win. Her lawyers have called the allegations a made-up sob story while maintaining the Grammy Award winner did nothing wrong. The dancers in this case allege that Lizzo pressured them into inappropriately touching nude singers at a sex show in Amsterdam. Other allegations that Lizzo reportedly fat-shamed them were dismissed in December.

Sexual harassment and toxic work conditions have been prominent in celebrity news this year. Among the biggest cases on those fronts is Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni. He and his company are accused of allegedly creating a toxic environment on It Ends with Us. In February, it was reported that settlement talks were crumbling.

Lizzo denies that her dancers were fired because they’d gained weight. Private recordings of her without consent and sending them to former employees were the reasons for the dismissals, according to Lizzo.

While we await trial on that matter, Lizzo has something else on her mind. On June 5, she will release her fifth studio album entitled Bitch.
