Matt Damon Taps Into His 1997 Classic for Latest SNL Gig

In a new promo for the upcoming SNL episode, Matt Damon revisited his 1997 classic, “Good Will Hunting“. The “Talented Mr. Ripley” actor next stars as the lead character, Odysseus, in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic drama, “The Odyssey”, which also features Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson.

Matt Damon revisits his Oscar-nominated movie in new SNL promo

In the promo video for the May 9 episode of SNL, Matt Damon takes a walk down memory lane with a bit referencing his Oscar-nominated film “Good Will Hunting”. The video opens with cast members Jeremy Culhane and Sarah Sherman working on the perfect SNL sketch on a Good Will Hunting-style chalkboard. It featured illustrations of some seemingly complicated comedy equations. Damon walked in and asked what they were doing.

Sherman replied, “We’re trying to figure out the perfect SNL sketch. Experts have been trying to crack this for years.” Culhane seriously added, “Yeah, Ferrell got close once, but ultimately it drove him insane.” “The Departed” star recognized the chalkboard method and pointed out that the movie is three decades old. Both Sherman and Culhane claimed not to have watched the movie. Sherman said, “Never seen it, dude,” while Culhane added, “Grew up in a cult, never seen a movie.”

The duo ultimately decided to leave the room. Once alone, Damon works on the sketch plan. However, when Sherman and Culhane returned the next morning, they were clearly not happy with the results. When they realized the 55-year-old was behind the plan, he quickly grabbed a mop and pretended to clean the floor, but he was holding it upside down, as Culhane pointed out.

In another promo video, Damon was on the receiving end of the question, “Do you like apples?” which was another Good Will Hunting reference. Marshall asked him, and Damon was visibly frustrated as he replied, “Come on, man, don’t do this.” The young actor retorted that it was just a question. The Golden Globe nominee finally gave in and replied, “Fine. Fine. Yes.” Marshall then responded that he liked apples as well, which took Damon by surprise.
