Americans think Donald Trump’s assassination attempt was ‘staged’

Many Americans recently responded to a poll saying that they believe that the three assassination attempts on Donald Trump were fake. The poll was conducted by NewsGuard/YouGov. It surveyed approximately 1,000 citizens, a majority of whom doubted the authenticity of the assassination attempts.

The poll, conducted between April 28 and May 4, revealed that 54 percent of Americans polled believe that one of the three assassination attempts was fake. On the other hand, only 38 percent had the opinion that the attempts were real. The results arrived after another assassination attempt was allegedly made at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) on April 25.

The first assassination attempt referenced by the poll was at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024. The second was at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach in September of the same year. The third was the WHCD shooting incident. According to the poll, 56 percent of survey takers believe the WHCD incident was “staged,” and 45 percent think otherwise. 53 percent of the respondents responded that they believe that the Butler rally attempt was fake. 47 percent said they believe it was real. 52 percent of poll takers responded that they think the golf course attempt was fake, whereas 48 percent consider it a real attempt.

According to The Guardian, commenting on the WHCD attempt, Trump said, “Actually, it was totally shocking to me, and that never changes. I heard a noise, and sort of thought it was a tray. There was a gun, and some people really understood that quite quickly. Other people didn’t. I was watching to see what was happening, probably should have gotten down a little faster.”
