Donald Trump won’t be happy to hear this news. The explosive FBI memos tied to a federal investigation into the President will remain for a lot longer than he would have hoped. The documents tied to former President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) were ordered to remain in bureau custody.
The evidence was collected during the investigation into Trump’s challenge to the 2020 election results. To this day, the current President insists that he was cheated out of a victory.
Biden’s 2020 election probe evidence will be preserved until 2030
When the POTUS leaves office, those explosive documents will still be around. Just The News obtained those files, which they say will be kept until 2030. During Joe’s term as President, the DOJ reportedly ordered those materials from the FBI’s Arctic Frost.
The apparent preservation has led supporters of Trump to believe this was an intentional move. They believe they did this to open the door for the criminal case against President Trump to be revisited. Former special counsel Jack Smith previously dropped that case against the real estate mogul.
Throughout his second term in the White House, reports have suggested the POTUS is trying to make some claims against him go away. That includes his involvement in the infamous Jeffrey Epstein files. In February, Congressman Jamie Raskin alleged that the President’s name had been redacted “over a million times.”
These memos tied to Trump apparently date back to 2025, not long after he won a second term. One key document, reportedly dated February 5 of last year, outlined the closure of the “Sensitive Investigative Matter.” This allegedly included a “Retention of Evidence Approval” to be preserved until 2030.
Jack dropped the charges without prejudice following Joe’s 2020 election triumph. That means theoretically they could be refiled at a later date. FBI Director Kash Patel says this preservation is purely to politically target the President. Donald Trump’s second term as President will officially end in January 2029 when someone else is sworn in.
