Brad Pitt reportedly remained absent during an important milestone in his daughter Zahara Jolie’s life. As Zahara celebrated her graduation from Spelman College, new reports claimed the actor neither attended the ceremony nor contacted family members beforehand, highlighting the continuing distance within the famous family.
Brad Pitt reportedly didn’t contact daughter Zahara amid graduation
According to TMZ, Pitt did not attempt to get tickets for the graduation ceremony and reportedly stayed completely uninvolved in the celebration weekend. Sources close to Angelina Jolie claimed Zahara spent the moment surrounded by her mother and siblings, who supported her throughout her years at Spelman.
One source told the outlet, “Nothing prevented him from showing up for her. Or ever visiting her. The day was about all she accomplished. Not whether he was willing to attend.” Sources connected to Pitt reportedly argued that the situation has become deeply strained over the years. They claimed the actor feels any attempt to reconnect would likely not be welcomed because of ongoing tension tied to his split from Jolie.
The growing distance within the family has become much more noticeable in public over the past few years. While attending college, Zahara Marley Jolie introduced herself using only “Jolie,” leaving “Pitt” out completely. Her sister Shiloh Jolie also reportedly filed legal documents to remove Pitt from her last name. Meanwhile, Vivienne Jolie used only “Jolie” while working on the Broadway production of The Outsiders.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spent more than a decade together after first meeting during the filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The pair eventually married in 2014, but Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. Since then, the former Hollywood power couple has remained tied up in years of legal fights involving custody and other family-related disputes.
Opening up during an interview with Vogue back in 2020, Angelina Jolie said she chose to leave Brad Pitt for the “well-being” of her family. The actress called it the “right decision” and explained that her main focus has remained on helping her children heal and move forward.
