Pete Davidson appeared to be finding his footing after his recent split from Elsie Hewitt. New reports suggested the former couple remained focused on co-parenting their daughter, Scottie Rose, despite going their separate ways just months after welcoming their first child.
The breakup made headlines last week, but sources close to the “Saturday Night Live” alum claimed he was handling the transition surprisingly well. According to insiders, support from friends and fellow comedians has helped Davidson through a difficult period.
Insiders claim Pete is managing his breakup from Elsie well despite previous bouts of depression
Davidson has long been open about his struggles with depression and mental health. That’s why recent updates about his well-being caught attention.
A source told Page Six that the comedian “has never sounded better than he has this week” following the split from Elsie Hewitt. The insider added that Davidson was still riding high from his appearance at a Kevin Hart roast special that recently debuted on Netflix.
“Pete was really funny, and no one took shots at him,” the source said. They also noted that his comedian friends have rallied around him in recent weeks.
“The support he’s gotten from people has been great. Everyone at the roast was his friends. He’s getting tons of support,” the source added.
While the romance may be over, insiders claimed Davidson remains committed to maintaining a positive relationship with Hewitt for the sake of their daughter. According to the report, Scottie Rose remains the top priority for both parents.
Another source said Davidson has gone out of his way to help Hewitt during the transition. The insider claimed he adjusted his work schedule and continued providing both physical and financial support.
“Pete has been paying for everything related to Elsie and Scottie,” the source alleged, including rent, living expenses, and health insurance.
The former couple welcomed Scottie in December. However, sources said relationship issues had existed for some time. Although they reportedly attempted to work through their differences, they ultimately decided to separate.
One insider described the split as a relationship that had simply “run its course.” Davidson’s busy work commitments reportedly created additional challenges, though the source noted both sides made efforts to spend time together whenever possible.
