Prince William revealed that he was “very proud” of his wife, Kate Middleton, for negotiating cancer so well, saying that she is “stunning” and the family cannot cope without her.
These comments were made in the Isles of Sicily, where Prince William had invited Heart Breakfast hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden for a rare radio interview.
Prince William shares how proud he is of wife Kate amid her cancer journey
An emotional Prince William said the last two years of the cancer recovery had been particularly hard on his wife, and he was “glad” that Kate Middleton was able to make a two-day visit to Italy, as she had been looking forward to it and raring to go. Middleton had made the trip to work on her Early Years project, where she has been doing deep research on the “Reggio Emilia Approach” to early education.
William describes his wife, saying, “She’s an amazing mom and amazing wife, and literally our family couldn’t cope without her. She’s been absolutely stunning; she really has.”
The May 22 interview came as William looks to open a new wing at St Mary’s Hospital on the Isles of Scilly solo to open the new wing.
Prince William heaped praise on his wife’s work ethic: “She’s a proper pro on early years, and most evenings I’m fighting to get past in the bedroom all the paperwork she’s got lined up to read. So I’m so pleased it went so well for her, and I think she came back buzzing.”
At the same time, the prince is pragmatic about the recovery process, saying that overseas trips are very hard on the body, and it has to be taken care of that Middleton is “doing okay” and is well-rested. He, however, says that “she’s in good form.”
Following her shock post-operative cancer diagnosis in March 2024, Princess Kate underwent six months of preventive chemotherapy before announcing that she was officially in remission in January 2025.
